Newsjacking Protocol
Decides whether a breaking story is worth your post, then drafts one that adds what only you know, worded to match how solid the facts are.
When to use
- A story just broke in your field and you want to comment while it is still news.
- You are unsure whether commenting helps or hurts your account.
- You want a repeatable routine for reacting to news instead of improvising.
When not to use
- The story involves deaths, a tragedy or an ongoing crisis outside your professional field. The answer is don't post.
- You want a long analysis piece; this produces short posts.
Example
Input: a payment provider reportedly plans higher fees for small online shops; one news article pasted, about an hour old. The user runs a consultancy for small online stores and knows typical client card volumes.
Output (excerpt)
FACTS: single report. Pasted text only; no announcement from the provider seen.
GATE: field direct · added value: you know what fees do to client margins · risk low
DECISION: POST, worded as reported
ANGLE: DATA
POST:
If the reported fee rise happens, it looks small until you run it on a real store.
A shop with 20,000 a month in card sales pays 60 more a month for every +0.3 percentage points: 720 a year.
Check which of your plans it touches before assuming it's fine.
TIMING: post now, while it is still a report people are asking about.
IF THE FACTS CHANGE: reply with the provider's confirmed numbers and redo the sum; delete if the rise is withdrawn.
