SEO Page Refresh
Finds out from your Search Console numbers why a page lost clicks, then gives a keep, update, merge or redirect decision with a short, ordered edit list.
When to use
- A page or article that used to perform has lost clicks for several weeks.
- You have a list of old posts and want to know which to update, merge or leave alone.
- You suspect two of your own pages compete for the same searches.
When not to use
- Clicks fell across the whole site at once. That is usually a site-level issue (indexing, a migration, a site-wide change); the skill will say so and stop.
- The page is days old or the fall is days old. Wait for a few weeks of data.
- You have no Search Console data. Get access first; guessing at causes wastes the rewrite.
Example
Input: page "How to descale an espresso machine", last updated two years ago. Last 3 months vs the same 3 months a year earlier: clicks 1,240 → 610, impressions 31,000 → 29,500, CTR 4.0% → 2.1%, average position 3.1 → 3.4. Site-wide clicks fell 4%. The site also has "Can you descale with vinegar?", published last year.
Output (excerpt)
SITE CHECK: page-level (site clicks -4%, page clicks -51%)
LOSS TYPE: main = results page (impressions -5%, position about the same, CTR almost halved) · secondary = query loss to your own vinegar page
LOST QUERIES
| Query | Clicks A → B | Position A → B | CTR A → B | Likely reason |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| how to descale espresso machine | 700 → 310 | 2.8 → 3.0 | 5.1% → 2.4% | Results page or competing titles changed: look at it live |
| descale espresso machine with vinegar | 150 → 20 | 4.0 → 9.0 | 3.0% → 0.6% | Your vinegar page now ranks: check it gained these clicks |
DECISION: update. Rankings held; the snippet and the opening are what lose the click.
EDITS (ordered)
- Answer the query in the first two sentences (what to use, how often, how long it takes) · above the first H2 · evidence: CTR down at the same position
- Cut the vinegar section to two lines and link to the vinegar page · evidence: the two pages split that query
