Builder Knowledge Brief

Write the short standing brief that Lovable or Bolt reads with every prompt, so the builder keeps your rules and stops repeating the same mistakes.

Version 3Updated 15 Oct 2026

Use it when

  • The builder keeps forgetting a rule you have already repeated several times.
  • You are starting a project and want every later prompt to respect the same product, roles and design.
  • Your knowledge field has grown into a long, contradictory document.

Skip it when

  • You work in Cursor or another coding agent and need coding conventions. That is a rules file (AGENTS.md or .cursor/rules), not a product brief.
  • The app is a one-prompt prototype you will not touch again.

Example

Input: Builder: Bolt. About the app: sign-ups for a running club's weekly runs, with pace groups and a 25-place cap per run. Mistakes: "keeps calling runners 'users'", "added dark mode twice", "turned the pace groups into a dropdown when I wanted buttons". Parts that stay as they are: magic-link login.

Output (excerpt)

ROLES
- Runner (PROJECT): signs up for runs and sees only their own sign-ups.
- Organiser (PROJECT): creates and cancels runs and sees every sign-up.

RULES
- Each run takes at most 25 runners; further sign-ups join the waitlist (PROJECT).

WORDS
- "runner", never "user"; "run", never "event" (PROJECT).

KEEP AS IS
- Magic-link login and its email flow (PROJECT).

RECURRING MISTAKES
- Light theme only; do not add a dark mode or a theme toggle (PROJECT).
- Pace groups are three buttons side by side, not a dropdown (PROJECT).

QUESTIONS FOR YOU
- Does a runner on the waitlist move up automatically when someone cancels?

Length: about 1,900 characters (estimate).

Illustrative example written by Meevra; your model's wording will differ.
