Image Edit Brief
Turn a messy list of image changes into ordered one-change edit passes, each with a keep-the-rest prompt, the details most at risk and a check, plus a stop rule before the image degrades.
Use it when
- You have a good image and need several changes without losing what already works.
- Edits keep changing faces, text, logos or the light.
- You switch between Nano Banana, GPT-Image, Midjourney's Edit Model and FLUX.2 and want one way of working.
Skip it when
- You want a different image, not a changed one. Write a new prompt.
- The change is a pixel-exact retouch on a client photo (skin, product colour for a listing). Do it in a photo editor.
- The image shows a real person who hasn't agreed to an edit of their likeness.
Example
Input: Photo of a woman at a café table with a ceramic mug, laptop and phone; window light from the right; small logo "Bean & Bark" on the mug. Changes: remove the phone charging cable; mug from white to sage green; widen to 16:9 by extending the left side; slightly warmer light. Must not change: her face, the logo. Tool: Nano Banana 2.1.
Output excerpt
1. PASS ORDER: (1) extend the left side to 16:9 · (2) remove the cable · (3) recolour the mug · (4) warm the light.
Pass 3
- EDIT PROMPT: "Change the ceramic mug on the table, in front of the laptop, to a soft sage green with the same glaze and sheen. Keep the logo 'Bean & Bark' as it is." + the closing keep-the-rest line.
- AT RISK: logo letters and position; the mug's reflection on the table; her hand next to the mug.
- CHECK: zoom in on the logo letter by letter, then the hand and fingers.
STOP RULE (excerpt): If the logo changes twice, go back to v2, recolour the mug in a photo editor with a hue adjustment on a selection, and continue from there.
