Midjourney Style Lock
Turn a few reference images into a calibrated Midjourney V8.2 style card: one suffix, one style sentence and a drift check the whole team reuses.
When to use
- A brand, client or campaign needs dozens of Midjourney images that read as one art direction.
- Images made by different people, or on different days, don't match.
- The user has reference images or an sref but doesn't know which settings keep the look stable.
When not to use
- The image must show an exact real product, person or logo. Use a reference-based tool and check fidelity: Midjourney's Edit Model, or nano-banana-reference-composer, gpt-image-product-shots or flux-series-consistency.
- The user wants variety and exploration. A lock removes it on purpose.
- The job is a single image. Calibration costs 6-8 jobs and pays off from roughly a dozen images.
Example
User: Three photos from a ceramics studio's brand shoot (warm stoneware, morning window light, linen). Needs Instagram 4:5 and a website hero 16:9. Test subjects: "a stack of plates", "a potter's hands shaping a bowl". Never: plastic, neon.
Reply 1 (excerpt):
- Anchor:
--srefwith photo 1. Photo 2 was rejected because its wooden shelf would turn up in every image; photo 3 is mostly a person. - Style sentence: "Quiet editorial photograph, warm stoneware tones of oat, clay and charcoal, low morning window light from the left, long soft shadows, linen and raw wood textures, generous empty space."
- Grid row:
| 4 | hands shaping a bowl | --stylize 250 | A potter's hands shaping a small bowl on a turning wheel, wet clay on the fingers, [style sentence] --sref <photo 1> --stylize 250 --ar 4:5 --v 8.2 |
Reply 2 (excerpt, after the user's scores): "Suffix: --sref <photo 1> --stylize 250 --raw --v 8.2. Job 6 (500) failed on subject: the bowl became a vase. Not covered: full-body people."
