Hiring Screener
Project instructions (ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini) that check each CV against your must-haves, score it with a quote per score, and add interview questions with what good answers include.
Use it when
- You have dozens of applications for one role and want the same first pass on each before you read the shortlist yourself.
- Several people screen for the same role and you want one scorecard and one format.
- Your interviews keep producing pleasant conversations and no evidence, and you want questions that test a specific candidate's weak spots.
Skip it when
- You have not written a scorecard yet. Define the first-year outcomes and must-haves first, or the screen has nothing to measure.
- You want the tool to make the hiring decision. It prepares evidence; a person decides.
Example
Input (illustrative): Scorecard for a Customer Success Lead: O1 cut churn on mid-market accounts, O2 build a quarterly review process, O3 coach three CSMs; must-haves: 3+ years in B2B customer success, has coached or led others. CV: "CSM at Fieldly for four years: responsible for key accounts; reduced logo churn in my book from 14% to 8% last year; ran quarterly reviews for 22 accounts in Gainsight. Before that, support agent at a telecom. MBA."
Output excerpt
Must-haves: 3+ years B2B customer success: Met ("CSM at Fieldly for four years"). Has coached or led others: Unclear (no line).
| Outcome | Evidence | Type | Score |
|---|---|---|---|
| O1 Cut churn | "reduced logo churn in my book from 14% to 8%" | Measured result | 4 |
| O2 Review process | "ran quarterly reviews for 22 accounts" | Named scope (ran, not designed) | 3 |
| O3 Coach CSMs | – | None | 1 |
Verdict: Short call. Churn evidence is strong; the coaching must-have is the open question and needs a conversation, not a task.
Question 1: "Tell me about a time you gave a colleague feedback that changed how they worked." Strong answer includes: a named situation, what they actually said, and a visible change afterwards. Weak sign: talks about feedback in general, or only about feedback they received.
